About Lin Nichols, artist & writer
I've dabbled in oils since I was 19 in 1966 in Virginia before moving to the west coast   In all those years, I painted mostly seascapes.  And while I painted, and decorated the walls with my work, I dreamed of the old family farm house in Southeastern North Carolina.

In 1984, the ancient dwelling that I fell in love with as a child came into my possession.  It was in 1988 that my late husband and I moved from California to restore the family home that has National Registry status as an historic site.  For five months we worked on the house while living in a 20-year-old motor home.  For over 15 years, the only brush I picked up was to stain a board, trim a window, or varnish a floor.  From there I completed my education, went to work, started writing a monthly column,
VISIONS, for the local paper, and started writing  a book about the restoration.

It was in late 2004 that I picked up an oil painting  brush again.  The loft of the old house was rearranged to allow room for easel, lights,  and everything that goes with oil painting.  I discovered portraits in oils of both people and  pets.  I still love landscapes, seascapes, and a bit of fantasy, but I always return to portraits.

In 2009, I published a small book from a series in my column
VISIONS, in the Wallace Enterprise newspaper, in Wallace North Carolina.  The series started in October of 2008 and finished in April of 2009.  The series and the book are the SEVEN SACRED RAINBOW COLORS Of the Covenant.  I did my own artwork for each color and the book is available on Amazon.com.

In 2011
FOR THE LOVE OF A HOUSE, Restored with the Love of a Child,  was published. This one is my heart, my own story, my journey.

Here are scanned pictures of the covers of both books.
